How to Clean Carpets with Vinegar and Windex

Using a mixture of vinegar and Windex to clean your carpet can produce the same cleaning results as most professional carpet cleaning services will achieve. When mixing a cleaning solution, do not mix vinegar or Windex with chlorine, as it will create harmful vapours.

Cleaner Clapham suggests to keep the windows open when you are making cleaners because the vapours can be overwhelming. The things you will need to clean the carpet with your own cleaner are Windex, white vinegar, steam cleaner, scrub brush and a terry cloth.
Instructions for Steam Cleaning Solution
  1. Pour a mixture of ¼ cup of vinegar and ¼ cup of Windex into a steam cleaner, and fill the rest of the steamer's reservoir with hot water. You can rent or buy a steam cleaner from most supermarkets.
  2. Clean the entire carpet with the steam cleaner, following the manufacturer's directions.
  3. Open the windows to help the carpet dry.
Instructions for Spot Cleaning
  1. Buy Windex Multi-Surface Spray with Vinegar, and saturate the stained areas of the carpet using the spray.
  2. Use a scrub brush to rub the Windex and vinegar solution into the carpet fibers.
  3. Use a terry cloth to blot the saturated area until the excess liquid has been soaked up.
  4. If the stain is still visible, repeat the process. If this doesn't work, consider calling carpet cleaning Clapham team.
Although, the Windex is meant for window cleaning, it can be also used for cleaning a variety of other surfaces in your home. Check on Internet to find out what other uses the Windex have.
